The Legal Stuff
DVLA APPROVED PLATES
When purchasing a custom number plate for your vehicle, ensuring it complies with government regulations is crucial. These conditions include using a reflective material for road safety, featuring black characters on a white background for front plates and black characters on a yellow background for rear plates. Plates should not have a background pattern to maintain readability. They must display the supplier's information and a British Standard number. Additionally, characters must not be removable or reflective.
At Number Plates Online, our team is dedicated to helping you create a legal plate that meets these requirements. All private number plates must be supported by legal documentation, such as a V750 certificate or a V778 retention document, to prove ownership and the right to use the bespoke design. The V750 assigns the registration mark to the owner, which is essential for plate assignment and future sales. The V778 retention document allows you to maintain ownership and legal road use of your private plate, with a validity period of ten years, requiring renewal only if the plate is unassigned to a vehicle.
Remember, private plates must always be legally assigned to your vehicle before use. If you change vehicles or acquire a new private plate, ensure proper processing of the change and have the physical copies of the V778 retention document and V5C logbook before using the plate on the road.
